Michelle Obama Shops at Target...

...for a photo op and gets one!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

On Sesame Street they used to (and still maybe do) have a little game called "One of these things is not like the others". Let's play!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Is it A) Michelle wearing her $600 sneakers to a charity event?

B) Michelle and her $6,000 alligator clutch?

C) Michelle wearing $42K+ diamonds to a DNC fundraiser?

or D) Michelle shopping at Target?

Take your time! There are only two obvious conclusions. One is that the Obama economy is soooo bad, that even millionaires and billionaires have to shop at Target. Or, 2012 is right around the corner and Michelle is trying desperately to lose the Marie Antoinette image she has so carefully cultivated over the last three years.

We report. You decide.

New Orleans Liberals Violate Free Speech Rights, Demand Anti-Obama Private Property Signs be Taken Down

Cross-posted at the Left Coast Rebel

If you really want to see what generations of the liberal mentality does to an individual's brain and soul simply (especially in the African-American community) watch this video:

So... a private citizen is displaying private property anti-Obama signs and local Jesse-Jackson-type libs want it taken down. Even shameless race-baiter Ray Negin showed up to "discuss" the situation with the property owner.

Memorable quotes taken from the video:

Local media
: "what some say is in bad taste, others call free speech." (Could the media be any stupider? Bad taste = free speech. Good taste = free speech. Free speech = free speech. End. Of. Discussion).

Local citizen: "It disrespects the nation and President Barack Obama represents our nation... everybody, not some people." (In other words, I don't like it so it needs to come down).

Local citizen #2: "He wouldn't do dat to dah Bush, it's insulting and we mean that it's going to have to be taken down." (translated: Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton told me so).

Local citizen #3: "This is nothing but pure Raaaaaacism!" (but of course, the first and last refuge of libtard scoundrels).

Orwellian New Orleans city councilwoman Susan Guidry: "We have to determine that there is a zoning law that prohibits perhaps the size of the sign; the way that it is erected, perhaps that it is leaning over onto public property, whatever we can use, we will." (Translated: meet the pinched-face of fascism, her name is "zoning law").

These people are no different than the "home of the 1960s free speech movement" Berkeley-types here in California that scream "1st Amendment!" yet rabidly decry against anything their close-minded pea-sized brains don't comprehend, insisting that "hate speech" is not "free speech."

Holding my breath waiting for the ACLU take up the property owner's case.

View photos of the anti-Obama signs here.

Banned Sex in Advertising -video

I suppose I could have saved this for "Sex in Advertising", but it might have lost a bit of its topical flavor.

Brazil's ministry for women has called for a TV advertisement featuring supermodel Gisele Bundchen in her underwear to be suspended.

The ministry has asked the advertising authorities to ban the lingerie ad, which it says "reinforces the erroneous stereotyping of women as sex objects".

In the ad, a scantily-clad Ms Bundchen distracts her husband while telling him bad news, such as damaging the car.

Are they suggesting to take the "bra" out of "Brazil"? I don't know about you, but she could wreck my car, any day!

I saw this, this AM. It seemed to go well with the piece on multiculturalism.

CAM

Whatever Happened to Multiculturalism?

Whatever happened to multiculturalism? You used to hear about it all the time. Not so much any more. Not to say I believe it has gone away. (When was the last time a left wing ideologue apologized for anything?) I figure it has just burrowed like the head of a tick into the warm, cozy flank of academia.

I was thinking of this when I saw the story of a woman sentenced to ten lashes for the cultural crime of...driving a car. The sentence has since been commuted by the king.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - Saudi King Abdullah has overturned a court ruling sentencing a Saudi woman to be lashed 10 times for defying the kingdom's ban on female drivers, a government official said Wednesday.

A step in the right direction by the king. Whether or not it is viewed as such by all of his subjects may be a different story.

A Saudi court on Tuesday found Shaima Jastaina guilty of violating the driving ban, and sentenced her to 10 lashes. The verdict took Saudi women by surprise, coming just a day after King Abdullah promised to protect women's rights and decreed that women would be allowed to participate in municipal elections in 2015. Abdullah also promised to appoint women to a currently all-male advisory body known as the Shura Council.

Now let's see a show of hands...how many of you think a culture that would sentence a woman to ten lashes with a whip for driving a car...is equal to our own? Anyone? Any one at all??

How about honor killings? Jiggy with those?? Death penalty for sexually related transgressions??? Beatings and harassment for females with the temerity to...go to school?

The multiculturalists have been decrying the influence of "dead, white European males" for a long time, but can you honestly say that the Western cultural idea of the equality of women should be treated as equally valid with those cultures who don't?

There are no written laws that restrict women from driving. Rather, the ban is rooted in conservative traditions and religious views that hold giving freedom of movement to women would make them vulnerable to sins.

"traditions and religious views"... Funny, the multi-culti group holds all religions as equally valid (or invalid) but still holds Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular, in great disdain. But, Christianity elevated the position of women from mere chattel and many of those dead, white European males followed suit!

As Paul Harvey used to say, "It is not one world". As George Orwell used to say, "All are equal, but some are more equal than others"!

Funny, too, is how the multiculturalists are nowhere to be found when stories like this hit the news. A good beheading, as was done to Daniel Pearl, beating women for not knowing their place, stoning a homosexual to death or severing the hand of a thief...remind me again why I should esteem these cultures as equal to my own?

Specialist Fourth Class Thomas James Kinsman

Citation:

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty Sp4c. Kinsman (then Pfc.) distinguished himself in action in the afternoon while serving as a rifleman with Company B, on a reconnaissance-in-force mission. As his company was proceeding up a narrow canal in armored troops carriers, it came under sudden and intense rocket, automatic weapons and small-arms fire from a well entrenched Viet Cong force. The company immediately beached and began assaulting the enemy bunker complex. Hampered by exceedingly dense undergrowth which limited visibility to 10 meters, a group of 8 men became cut off from the main body of the company. As they were moving through heavy enemy fire to effect a link-up, an enemy soldier in a concealed position hurled a grenade into their midst. Sp4c. Kinsman immediately alerted his comrades of the danger, then unhesitatingly threw himself on the grenade and blocked the explosion with his body. As a result of his courageous action, he received severe head and chest wounds. Through his indomitable courage, complete disregard for his personal safety and profound concern for his fellow soldiers, Sp4c. Kinsman averted loss of life and injury to the other 7 men of his element. Sp4c. Kinsman's extraordinary heroism at the risk of his life, above and beyond the call of duty, are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the U.S. Army.

Sp4c. Kinsman: We humbly salute you and thank you for your service.

Let There Be Lights!

Of all the things I might have chosen to write about today, this wasn't one of them. Yesterday evening, I put up the chandelier I had carried with me from Ohio.

Part of the charm of the Ohio house, to me, was the grape theme in the kitchen and dining room. The kitchen was painted purple, textured with gold and silver highlights. There was grape themed wallpaper wainscoting, grape wallpaper trim at the ceiling's edge, plastic bunches of grapes hanging from the light fixtures, and the pièce de résistance, a chandelier in the dining room, with each element a transparent bunch of grapes.

In order to make the house more appealing to a broader segment of house buyers, I painted over the purple kitchen, the dark maroon dining room and the zebra striped upstairs bathroom. And I replaced the grape chandelier with a more conventional light fixture.

Well, I finally got tired of looking at the ugly fixture that came with my California house, and I mounted the chandelier:

And having nothing of great importance to do on a Sunday afternoon, I thought I'd search and see if anyone else had such a thing, or where one might get one (or spare parts) if ever needed. I didn't find one like it, but I thought I'd share some of what I did find!

The first is something you can give me as a house warming gift for my seaside cottage (whenever I get one). The mermaid chandelier:

"Obama Sold Israel Bunker-Buster Bombs"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

In keeping with our policy of highlighting anything that President Obama does right, (counted on one hand with fingers left over), Obama has apparently sold Israel the weapons it may need someday to potentially defang its enemies. And take out a rogue nuclear program at the same time??

While publicly pressuring Israel to make deeper concessions to the Palestinians, President Obama has secretly authorized significant new aid to the Israeli military that includes the sale of 55 deep-penetrating bombs known as bunker busters, Newsweek has learned.

In an exclusive story to be published Monday on growing military cooperation between the two allies, U.S. and Israeli officials tell Newsweek that the GBU-28 Hard Target Penetrators—potentially useful in any future military strike against Iranian nuclear sites—were delivered to Israel in 2009, just several months after Obama took office.

As a member of the California Rifle and Pistol Association, they regularly send me stickers, which say, "Society is safer when criminals don't know who's armed".

In this case, the world is safer when surrounding neighbors know that Israel is. Although, that early in the Obama presidency, the deal was probably brokered by Bush. The fact that Obama followed through on it and did not obstruct it in any way was the right thing to do.

Update : What was I thinking??? I'm supposed to be criticizing Obama, just because he's black!!! It totally slipped my mind! I apologize for any confusion or palpitations I've caused any liberals here.

Quite a contrast, quite an ad!

"Ron Paul says he'd consider putting Dennis Kucinich in his Cabinet"

What's the difference between Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich? Kucinich has a hotter wife!

Just as you thought Ron Paul could not come up with anything wackier than he's already come up with, he doubles down on "There's-no-way-anyone-can-imagine-me-winning-this-election"!

Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) says he would consider putting the liberal congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) in his Cabinet if he were to win the presidency in 2012.

Paul said his libertarian political philosophy helps him connect with some on the far left — including Kucinich, who shares Paul’s general anti-war stance.

For those Paulbots living in a cave somewhere, Kucinich is considered one of the least serious and most flaky members of Congress. And don't get him started on UFOs! Oh, and did we mention he's a Democrat?

If Doctor Paul wants to reach across the aisle to make for a more bipartisan administration, the aisle he wants to reach across should not have been featured prominently in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".

Lieutenant, Junior Grade Joseph R. Kerrey

Citation:

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as a SEAL team leader during action against enemy aggressor (Viet Cong) forces. Acting in response to reliable intelligence, Lt. (j.g.) Kerrey led his SEAL team on a mission to capture important members of the enemy's area political cadre known to be located on an island in the bay of Nha Trang. In order to surprise the enemy, he and his team scaled a 350-foot sheer cliff to place themselves above the ledge on which the enemy was located. Splitting his team in 2 elements and coordinating both, Lt. (j.g.) Kerrey led his men in the treacherous downward descent to the enemy's camp. Just as they neared the end of their descent, intense enemy fire was directed at them, and Lt. (j.g.) Kerrey received massive injuries from a grenade which exploded at his feet and threw him backward onto the jagged rocks. Although bleeding profusely and suffering great pain, he displayed outstanding courage and presence of mind in immediately directing his element's fire into the heart of the enemy camp. Utilizing his radioman, Lt. (j.g.) Kerrey called in the second element's fire support which caught the confused Viet Cong in a devastating crossfire. After successfully suppressing the enemy's fire, and although immobilized by his multiple wounds, he continued to maintain calm, superlative control as he ordered his team to secure and defend an extraction site. Lt. (j.g.) Kerrey resolutely directed his men, despite his near-unconscious state, until he was eventually evacuated by helicopter. The havoc brought to the enemy by this very successful mission cannot be over-estimated. The enemy soldiers who were captured provided critical intelligence to the allied effort. Lt. (j.g.) Kerrey's courageous and inspiring leadership, valiant fighting spirit, and tenacious devotion to duty in the face of almost overwhelming opposition sustain and enhance the finest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service

Lt. Kerrey: We humbly salute you and thank you for your service.
